“Dried fruits are often high in sugar and calories,” Nanavati advises. "Their higher glycemic index than fresh fruits can cause a rapid blood sugar spike after eating." Yikes!
She notes that 1/4 cup of raisins has 29 grams of sugar and 130 calories. Fresh grapes include 6 grams of sugar and 30 calories per 1/4 cup. Stick to fresh fruit!

“Granola bars may seem like a healthy snack, but they are often loaded with added sugars, syrups, and oils,” Nanavati explains. "They also lack protein and fiber, which regulate blood sugar and fill you up."
She estimates that granola bars include 11 grams of sugar and 120 calories. She advises, "Some granola bars contain chocolate chips, candy pieces, or dried fruits, which can add more sugar and calories."
